A good skin and hair care routine is a very important step in keeping your hair and skin radiant and healthy looking. There are specific ways to care for your skin and hair depending on what type you have. Do you have oily skin or dry skin? Oily hair or dry hair? Once you determine your hair and skin type, then you are ready to set up your daily routine.

If your hair is dry, then you will need something to hydrate it. Use a lanolin based shampoo and conditioner that is high in nutrients. Wash your hair daily and brush it with a good firm brush to stimulate the scalp which in turn stimulates the oil glands to produce more oil to feed your hair.

If you also have dry skin, your routine should include a good moisturizer which will hold the moisture into your skin and form a barrier that helps to keep bacteria and dust out. Don t use any skin care product with a strong astringent or that is alcohol based as this will only result in drying your skin out more. Another help for dry skin or dry hair is to drink plenty of water every day.

Those with oily hair will find that a good hair care routine will help eliminate the problem of having limp, greasy looking hair. Pick a shampoo that is mild and is made for your type of hair. Rinsing your hair with lemon juice is a good way to remove some of the oil from your hair and it smells good too. Avoid brushing your hair too often as this stimulates the oil glands in your scalp.

If you have oily skin, you may find that acne is a problem for you. With oily skin, it s vitally important to keep the skin clean. Wash the skin often; use a good astringent to give you a good deep clean down into your pores. If you do happen to have an acne breakout, don t panic. This problem is usually short lived and easily treated. Wash the area frequently, pat the area dry, and do not rub it dry as this may damage the skin. Use a good acne treatment soap and medicated ointment on the area. Whatever you do, do not pick at the acne, or squeeze it. This will damage your skin and can leave scars.

Those with oily skin and hair may find that changes in their diet will also help. Try to avoid saturated fats found in things such as chips. Both those with dry and oily types of hair and skin should maintain a healthy diet that will also be beneficial to their skin and hair. Eat plenty of chicken, green leafy vegetables, fruits, grains and eggs as these are vital for healthy hair and skin. Both types should drink the minimum recommended eight glasses of water a day. This will help keep your body healthy. It helps to set a specific time each day to do your routine.
