Basketball Tips: When Things Go Wrong

After a tough practice that you have gone through, what happens when all you have worked hard so far goes down the drain? Personally, I always have to go through this as a point guard of my team. I was called the ace basketball player in the women s division but every time I think about that I think about how I led the whole team down. I was supposed to lead the plays and make them happen. I was supposed to bring shooting opportunities for the team and was supposed to make all my attempts a success. But I reckon that basketball is not a one man game. There are 5 players out there in the court including myself. That means I have some help whenever needed.

I have experienced to have a very tough game especially during my university days being known as the one who has had basketball training and was able to play at the varsity. In fact, I always have to endure the tough game but when things go wrong, how do I handle it? I am a point guard which means I have the role of bringing down the ball towards the front court. In my experience I always have two defenders guarding me which makes it somewhat hard to take control over the ball. Many times, I had no choice but to retreat or retrace my steps back as I see downtown who is available. Many times I attempted to shoot but the ring seem to not like my shooting. And still many times that someone I am guarding ran past me as if I don t exist at all.

What do I do?

I continue doing what I am usually doing. I refuse to panic and commit more mistakes than allowable because I know not all game days will go to my team s favor. It is a fact that other teams will perform better than your team. And you got to handle the bad days as if it is the worst. You just need to keep doing what you need to be doing. Do not be affected of the mood of the game. Just go out there and find some other ways for you to make a difference. During times that I have bad pulse at getting the basketball go inside the basket, I make it to the point of leaving the shooting to other team mates and only make an attempt if I was left alone or was able to get away from a tight guard. Chances are opportunities will come by without you searching for a way to make it happen.

Most of all, try to keep cool your head especially on the court. It is like having to go through the bad hair day; your head seem to be so heat up that you just want to blow up. Well as a suggestion, DON T. You will only make matters worse if you lose your cool. Always remember that every team and every player have tough games to survive and not just you.
