Poles Apart: Krakow’s Best Bars

The Polish capital of Krakow is becoming a hugely popular holiday destination. Not only is it still fairly cheap to fly to, but it is also cheap when you get there. This doesn’t mean that the place is shoddy though far from it.

Krakow is a vibrant, exciting city and there are plenty of things to do and see. One reason that it is becoming a hit is because of its growing success as a stag weekend destination. If you are a best man planning a stag party, then you will probably have heard just how popular this place is. Now would be the ideal time to experience this famous Polish hospitality for yourself. Not only does it attract parties from the UK but also from the rest of Europe and even worldwide.

Krakow and Poland in general for that matter, is great for beer and vodka so perhaps this is one reason why Krakow is so popular for stag weekends. Apparently, it has the highest density of bars in the world. The city could provide a never ending pub crawl, if that’s what you wanted. Not only do international beers flow in abundance, but you can also find local favourites such as Okocim, Zywiec and Tyskie. If you’re looking for a strong beer (anything between 6 10 ) you could even try the mind blowing Okocim Mocne, which blasts other beers out of the water. If it’s vodka you’re after, then Poland really comes into its own! If you’re feeling brave, you could try the triple distilled potato vodka Zubrówka, which contains a single blade of bison grass in each bottle. And no you don’t eat the grass, you just drink the vodka!

Not only is Krakow overrun by bars, but it also has some of the most famous in the whole of Poland. There’s a very good chance that you will find yourself wobbling down cobbled streets and descending down into some strangely lit cellar bars. The whole atmosphere of the place seems designed to make you feel a thousand times drunker than you actually are. Most of the best bars are found around the Rynek Glowny area, although some trendy bars are springing up in the Kazimierz district as well.

Aside from some of the more famous, Krakow style pubs, the Polish sense of humour has manifested in some bizarre but wonderful themed pubs as well. There is a ‘Middle Earth’ themed pub (if you fancy being a hobbit) and a curious English/Irish/something as yet undetermined pub called Shakesbeer. If, however, wine is your particular passion, you could always try somewhere like the Bodega Marques Vinoteca in the main market square, which has a great selection of wines and knowledgeable waiters. If you book your stag weekend through a decent stag party specialist, they will invariably have pub crawl excursions to all of the best joints in town.

The best way to organise a stag weekend Krakow style is to approach one of these specialists in organising Eastern European stag parties. Not only are they extremely knowledgeable on the area that you want to travel to, but they will also be able to provide numerous excursions for the eager stag party. Most importantly, they really help to take the pressure off you, as the best man, to sort everything out alone. Not only can they arrange the inevitable pub/bar crawl, but they can also help to organise special events such as go karting and paint balling to add some adventure to the celebrations.

We have been organising made-to-measure stag weekends abroad and hen weekends in Eastern Europe since 2000. More recently popular destinations include stag weekends in Krakow, Budapest and Riga.
